Dinner 2005
Rannoch Re-Tox™

More rain….more drink… Morefield

(By Big Al, May 2005)

Me and Willie drove from Glasgow
and the weather was absolute hell
we were really fucken glad
to see the Morefield Motel

The bar was at the front
And some Rannoch were already in
the rooms were round the side
so we tried to get booked in

We asked at the desk
but our room was double-booked
The 'Mysterious Mr. Stead' had come
So we were really in schtook

But me and Willie got sorted
Thanks to Gav and JD
They both had double rooms
And had a bed free

Formalities over
it was time for a pint
They didn't have Stella
and Tennents is shite

But beggars can't be choosers
And I got it down my neck
Enough of it gets you steamin'
So…What the feck!

Some of the team
had camped the previous night
JD in particular
looked a real sight

They had all got pished
On wine and lager
And he tripped on a guy-rope
In a drunken stagger

He went arse over tit
And landed on his face
Cut his head and broke his glasses
(What a fucking disgrace).

Tony was the host,
And he called us all to Dinner
he was a big fat FEB
and could've been thinner

The cuisine was excellent
all top class nosh
Brie Wedges on an Apricot Coulis!
(just a wee bit posh)

I got the Steak
And asked for it "rare/well done"
The waitress looked confused
And brought me a medium

For sweet I got the Tart
And that made three
Because I had Rhona and Shaz
Either side of me

After the meal
We all went back to the bar
For a chance to go round chatting
Over a few jars

I saw my old mate Nigel
We sat and had a talk
He said it was "a bit subdued"
I said "It's not who's here...it's who's not"

The bar closed at One
And Fat Tony chucked us out
Some of us weren't finished
So we got a kerry oot

There was me, Gav and JD,
Shaz, Willie and Dick
We continued chatting and drinking
Until we were nearly sick.

We all made it for breakfast
Except for Wee Al and Carol
I guess he must've drunk too much
(probably most of a barrel).

The weather in the morning
Was still really shocking
Cold, wet and windy...
Certainly no climbing or walking

So that was it for another year
These things all come to an end
So let's make sure we meet again
And raise a drink to absent friends!

Footnote:

I travelled on the Saturday with Rannoch Training Guru Willie. We had a very enjoyable six hour trip stuck in bank holiday weekend traffic jams in the lashing rain indulging in conversational topics such as;

the pros and cons of campus board multi-crux pump out super sets,
reverse tendonitis microtherapy, multidirectional superbursitis inhibitors and extrasensory hepato-predictive cirrhosis. The guy really is a mine of useful information, I managed to glean from him that I should stay off campus boards and drink more beer. Fascinating.
